Building a Willing Partner, Not Just a Broke Horse

At The Stable Horseman, our training philosophy is founded on a simple but profound principle: trust must be earned, not forced. We believe a lasting partnership begins with the horse understanding that we are not a threat.

Dylan’s method starts with patience. He allows the horse to seek him out and build confidence on its own time. There are no shortcuts and nothing is ever forced. The foundation of this relationship is built through fundamental, respectful horse care—grooming, handling, and groundwork. These simple, consistent interactions prove to the horse that he is a source of comfort and safety.

This quiet, trust-based approach creates a horse that is not only “broke” but is a confident, willing, and reliable partner for a lifetime.

Our Training Process: Tailored to Your Horse

We don’t believe in rigid 30, 60, or 90-day programs. Every horse is an individual with unique needs, a distinct personality, and a different background. Forcing a horse into a predetermined timeline doesn’t work.

Instead, our training program is completely tailored to your horse. The length of time needed is determined by the horse’s progress and when they are truly ready for the next step.

We believe the horse’s owner is a crucial part of the team. Dylan encourages owners to be involved in the process, providing updates and including you in sessions when appropriate. Our goal is to create a seamless transition so that the partnership we build with your horse is successfully transferred to you.

The Outcome: A Partnership Built to Last

Our ultimate goal is not just to train your horse, but to ensure a successful, long-term partnership between you and your horse.

Owners are encouraged to join and participate in the training process as much as possible. This active involvement is key to building your relationship with your horse as they learn, making the final “hand-off” a natural and successful transition.

To support this continued growth, Dylan strongly encourages owners to schedule “haul in” lessons after the formal training is complete. These lessons help you and your horse solidify your communication and continue to grow your partnership together.
