Funkhana Events
Where Horsemanship Meets Fun
The Stable Horseman's signature community event — a timed obstacle course that challenges horse and rider while bringing the equestrian community together.
What Is a Funkhana?
A Funkhana is a timed obstacle course competition where horse-and-rider teams navigate a series of creative, skill-testing challenges. Think barrel racing meets trail class — with a healthy dose of personality.
Dylan created The Stable Horseman Funkhana to give riders of all levels a low-pressure, high-fun way to test their partnership with their horse. Whether you're competing for the first time or a seasoned competitor, you'll find your place here.
Events are held regularly at our North Phoenix arena. Each Funkhana features unique obstacle setups — no two events are exactly alike.

What to Expect
Unique Obstacles
Every event features a fresh course layout — from ground poles and bridges to mailboxes, tarps, and more. No two Funkhanas are the same.
Community Atmosphere
Funkhana is as much about the people as the competition. Riders cheer each other on, share tips, and leave with new friends.
Prizes & Recognition
Top finishers in each class earn ribbons and prizes. But every rider who completes the course earns bragging rights.
Photo Opportunities
The course is designed with great photo moments in mind. Bring a friend to capture your run — or tag us on social media.
Rules & Guidelines
- All riders must wear an ASTM/SEI-certified helmet. No exceptions.
- Horses must be current on vaccinations (Coggins required within 12 months).
